Residencies/Labs:
2010: My feature narrative film “This war on Love” was selected as a participant in the Interchange Script and Director Program from the Torino Film Lab in collaboration with Dubai Film Festival.
2011: I have been awarded a 10-week writing residency at the Iowa University International Writers Program, starting in August till November 2011.
Performances:
Upcoming: Invited to perform poetry at the Dresden Poetry Festival in September 2011 and also to perform poetry and give a panel talk at the FrankFurt Book Fair in October 2011.
2007- current: Performed in Beirut/Amman/Dubai monthly with a variety of poets in different venues as part of the Poeticians meetings.
June 2011- Performed poetry in the Berlin poetry festival as an invited panelist and poet for their New Arab World day at the festival.
March 2011- I hosted two special Poetician events in Dubai. The Emirates Literary Festival and the Sikka Art Fair in the Bastakiya Art area in Dubai. Both events were curated by me and were free of charge, community events. I also hosted and performed poetry at the Ladies Night charity show at the Fridge, with female artists from Dubai.
2010- Performed poetry and gave a talk about filmmaking, by invitation from poet Ethelbert Miller, at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington.
2009- Performed poetry at Alwan for the Arts center in NYC, and was also invited to a special performance and reading at Howard University in Washington DC.
